The Kids view is available to all Thumsters Plus subscribers through the parent app, but if your Kids have their own devices, they can connect directly to the Kids view through our Family Sharing features. Connecting your kids to Thumsters is a great way to get your children involved and allows them to control how their Thumbucks are spent, provide emotional feedback and to track their progress!
β
If they have joined via the Kids view only, this does not give them access to the Parent view, so don't worry if you think they are going to game the system by giving themselves Thumbs.π€ͺ
To connect the Kids View on a KID'S device:
On your kid's device, download the latest version of Thumsters. Open the Thumsters App, and tap the 'level up your parenting' button.
Tap the 'Join a family' button. (Kid's device)
Tap to 'Join as a kid'. (Kid's device) You will see a screen asking for a Magic Code.
Now grab your device (Parent's device) and go to the settings by tapping the Settings βοΈ icon in the top right of the Home screen (the screen where you select your children to give Thumbs).
To generate a Magic Code, in the Settings, navigate to 'Family Sharing' > 'Invite a new member'. A six character code will appear on your screen. DO NOT CLOSE this screen on the parent device! β If you close this screen, you will have to begin the process again.π€¦πΌββοΈ
Back on your kid's device, enter the code you generated in the last step into the fields provided. The code will automatically submit as soon as all 6 characters are entered. A waiting spinner will appear.
On your device (Parent's device) a notification that someone wants to join will appear. Approve the request.
Thats it! Your kid should now have their own Kids View on their own device! The main Parenting App will NOT be accessible from their device.
Special note for families with more than one kid, they can navigate between children on the kids device.
βBonus. Setting up Kid Passwords. π π΅ π¦
For those with more than one kid, to prevent them from accessing each others views (because we know kids ;) ) you can set them each a child-friendly password from Settings on the Parents App.
On the Parent device go to the Settings section of the app by tapping the Settings βοΈ icon in the top right of the Home screen.
Navigate to 'Kid Passwords' > choose a child from the list > set their password which is a combination of a color and shape. If they ever forget their password, you can retrieve it for them on the previous child list!
