In this article, we will explain how to setup Family Sharing in Thumsters. It is important to note that family sharing is part of the Thumsters Plus subscription.
What is a Family in Thumsters?
A connected family in Thumsters is a group of users who are connected within the app to collectively manage and track children's behavior and habits from their own device. This includes parents, guardians, and other caregivers who are responsible for the child's well-being. Each family member can be linked to a single family to share kids goals, rewards, and progress.
How Does it Work?
When setting up Family Sharing in Thumsters, only one family member needs to create an account and purchase a Thumsters Plus subscription—this person is the Master Account Holder.
Other family members, the Connected Members, don’t need their own accounts or separate subscriptions, but they do need to have the Thumsters app installed.
From within the app, the Master Account Holder can invite others to join the family, choosing whether they join as a Parent/Caregiver or as a Kid:
Parents/Caregivers once connected will have full access to all Thumsters Plus features, effectively piggybacking on the Master Account Holders subscription.
Kids will have their own Kids Mode, which allows them to interact with their goals and progress in a safe, guided way—without needing a separate account.
This setup makes it easy for families to stay connected and engaged while keeping things simple for kids!
Set Up
To invite other parents and/or caregivers to the family account, there must be one user subscribed Thumsters Plus. We will refer to them as the Master Account Holder.
Setting up Family Sharing
Master Account Holder (must be on Thumsters Plus)
As the creator of the Family, open “Settings” ⚙️
Tap “Family Sharing”
Tap “Invite a new member”
A connection magic code will appear on screen. Share with the person you want to connect. ⚠️ DO NOT CLOSE THIS SCREEN.
Now get the family member to follow the Connected Member Device below instructions. Once complete continue to step 6.
Once the request to join is received, tap "Approve Access" (or deny if you do not wish to connect).
Connected Member Device (no Thumsters Plus of account required)
Open the Thumsters App, tap "Level up your parenting" button
Tap "Join a family" button in the middle of the screen.
Tap either "Join as a grown up" or "Join as a kid"
Enter your name and tap "Continue"
Enter the magic code shared by the Master Account Holder.
Wait for approval from the Master Account Holder.
Once approved you should be connected!
Can I delete a connected user?
Yes, if you are the Master Account Holder with the Thumsters Plus subscription you can remove a connected family member from your account.
To do this:
Open "Settings" ⚙️
Tap "Family Sharing"
Find the name of the invited family member you'd like to delete
Tap on the rubbish bin icon next to their name.
You will be prompted to confirm you want to disconnect the user. Tap "Yes".
Can I reconnect them at a later date?
Yes you can invite them to join again.
